Kate Norton

Kate Norton - mixed media art
Kate's work can be seen on her website
'I am a mixed media artist, based in Somerset.  My inspiration comes from the landscape that surrounds me.  My mixed media pieces combine a yarn wrapping technique, wet felting, hand stitching, lino printing and fabrics to create unusual landscapes'.
Kate Norton

'Kate’s background in textile design is very evident in her work; after a degree in the subject she went on to study for an MSc in Textile Technology for Textile Designers. Today her mixed media pieces combine a yarn wrapping technique traditionally used by weavers with wet felting, hand stitching, lino printing and fabrics to create unusual landscapes.

The changing light, seasons, landscapes and abundance of wildlife in Somerset, and the Somerset Levels, provide her with unlimited inspiration. From a distance Kate’s work is often mistaken for watercolour paintings such is the subtlety of the colours in the yarn wrapped backgrounds.
