Church of St Peter and St Paul: Saturday 15th February - 2:00pm
The mission of the Poetry & Photography Competitions is to shed light on the beauty and mystery of snowdrops, and pay homage to the astonishing work of the self-taught horticulturalist, James Allen, in his home town of Shepton Mallet. His passion for snowdrops led him to breed, and lose, the greatest known collection of snowdrops within his lifetime of 1830 to 1906. See James Allen's story to find out more.
A selection of Photographs and Poems entered into the competitions will be on display during the festival, plus there will be readings from shortlisted poems and prizes presented for both competitions at an event featuring the Judges, Jane Draycott and Jo Stephen
The Readings and Prize-Giving take place
