2023 Photography Competition Judge announced

We’re delighted to announce that Jason Ingram has kindly agreed to be our judge for 2023. The theme for the 2023 competition is ‘Let Nature Thrive’.

Jason is an award-winning photographer. For the last three years (2019-2021) he has won the prestigious Gordon Rae Photographer of the Year Award from the Garden Media Guild.  On the latest 2021 Award the judges said he ‘demonstrated a high degree of skill across all of his images’.  They went on to complement ‘ his ability to shoot both beautiful close-up plant portraits and wide garden shots with sympathetic lighting and precise compositions.’  They added  ‘This is a photographer who clearly understands and loves gardens.’

Jason also works with international garden designers on private commissions. In 2019 he  provided over 300 exceptional photographs of the Piet Oudolf designed gardens at the Hauser and Wirth Art Gallery near Bruton in Somerset. The photographs were included in a book, ‘Planting the Oudolf Gardens at Hauser and Wirth Somerset’.  His atmospheric photographs of the garden in the height of summer and in the depths of winter bring the garden to life beautifully.  You can see some of the images on Jason’s website

Jason is looking forward to some creative interpretations of the ‘Let Nature Thrive’ theme : “Nature surrounds us all in some shape and form every day so this brief is as wide as you can interpret it. When you really start to look you see elements of nature thriving the moment you walk out of the door. Whether you live in a city, town or the countryside, we are surrounded by it.”

The Photography Competition will be open for entries from 24 September 2022, and close at noon on Monday 30 January 2023.
