Planting Snowdrops
Over the years we’ve planted over 500,000 snowdrop bulbs to brighten roadsides, roundabouts and public spaces with the lovely snowdrop flower. You can get involved too. Help us in the autumn with planting snowdrops or buy bulbs directly from us to plant where you choose.
Snowdrop Festival
Each February we hold a Festival to celebrate the legacy of James Allen and bring visitors to the town. You’ll find specialist growers and nurseries with rare and unusual snowdrops and spring flowers for sale. There’s art and craft to admire and buy in the church and around the town. Try your hand at craft and wicker workshops. Enter the photography and poetry competitions. Look out for story telling for children. And don’t forget the open gardens, walks and more.
Somerset’s Finest Snowdrop Gardens
We were very excited to team up with some of the best snowdrop Gardens in Somerset for a Great Snowdrop Gardens Trail in 2026 which was very successful. We are building on this. In 2027 we will launch Somerset’s Finest Snowdrops Gardens offering more options for visitors to see snowdrops and stay in the beautiful county of Somerset.
Visit the Festival and stay a while – for a weekend or even a week to enjoy these beautiful gardens.

We are entirely dependent on income from grants, sponsorship and fundraising. In June we organise Open Gardens in Shepton Mallet to raise money for planting snowdrop bulbs and supporting the Festival so that as much as possible is free. Gardens will be open again in June 2026.
